In a startling revelation, former Union Minister P.Ashok Gajapathi Raju has claimed that the incarcerated former Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, is being denied even the most basic necessity – clean drinking water – in the confines of Rajahmundry’s Central Jail. This deprivation has reportedly led to severe dehydration, adding to the woes of the beleaguered ex-CM.
Stepping forward in a show of solidarity, Ashok Gajapathi Raju paid a visit to Chandrababu Naidu’s wife, Bhuvaneswari, in Rajahmundry.
His presence sought to underscore the gravity of the situation that Naidu finds himself in.
The concerns over Naidu’s health have been mounting in recent times.Having spent over a month behind bars following his arrest in a skill development scam case, the Naidu family is alarmed by his visibly deteriorating condition.According to reports, he has shed a significant five kilograms, sparking fears of potential harm to his kidneys should the weight loss persist.
Nara Bhuvaneswari, his wife, took up the mantle of expressing her distress over the state of her husband’s health. She lamented the glaring absence of timely and adequate medical care, asserting that the Andhra Pradesh government has fallen short in ensuring his well-being.
Bhuvaneswari pointed out the unhygienic state of the prison’s overhead water tanks, a serious health hazard in itself.
Joining her voice, N.Brahmani, Naidu’s daughter-in-law, decried the deplorable and unsanitary conditions prevailing in the prison. She argued that these conditions pose an imminent threat to Naidu’s health, with medical professionals echoing their concerns.
Brahmani, deeply concerned, emphasized the pressing need for immediate medical attention.
The ordeal has not been without its physical toll on Naidu, who, at 73, is grappling with dehydration and a troublesome skin allergy, a direct consequence of the oppressive heat and substandard facilities within the prison.
Upon his complaint of skin issues, dermatologists were summoned by jail authorities, who subsequently prescribed medication.
Despite the family’s growing apprehensions, the official word from the jail asserts that all vital signs of Naidu remain within the normal range, negating any immediate cause for concern regarding his health.
Meanwhile, Nara Lokesh, Naidu’s son and TDP General Secretary, sounded the alarm, seeking intervention from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.He asserted that his father’s life was under threat due to what he deemed a politically motivated targeting by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.
In a meeting with Shah in the nation’s capital, Lokesh underscored the urgency of the matter, underscoring the need for immediate action.
