Congress leader Rahul Gandhi assured that if the Congress comes to power in Telangana, they will conduct a caste census to empower Backward Class (BCs), Dalit (SCs), and tribal (STs) communities.
Speaking at a public gathering in Peddapalli, Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao for not taking steps towards a caste census despite the strong demand from these sections of society.
During the bus yatra organized by Congress, Rahul Gandhi emphasized his deep connection with the people of Telangana, which he described as a family bond rather than just a political one.He recalled the longstanding association of the Gandhi family with the region, dating back to Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence that the Congress would sweep Telangana in the upcoming Assembly polls, stating that the ruling party, BRS, would lose its foothold.
He went on to explain that conducting a caste census is crucial as it reveals whether the government is allocating funds in proportion to the population of OBCs, SCs, and STs.He accused both the Prime Minister and the Telangana Chief Minister of avoiding it due to these concerns.
Rahul Gandhi further criticized the current BRS government, claiming that it has not fulfilled the dreams and aspirations of the people, and accused KCR of acting like a king.
He alleged a covert alliance between the BJP, BRS, and MIM and urged the people of Telangana to vote against these three parties in the Assembly polls.
Rahul Gandhi also pledged to implement six guarantees within the first 100 days if the Congress comes to power, drawing on successful experiences in other states.He assured the people of Telangana that Congress would keep its promises.
