Fierce cross firings erupted between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir.In this background, five security personnel were dead while two other militants were killed.Many police personnel were injured.Security forces carried out large-scale combing with reports of suspicious movements of armed terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC).
According to sources, a junior commissioned officer (JCO) and four other jawans were critically injured when security forces opened fire on terrorists on Monday morning in the vicinity of a village near Surankot in Poonch district.
Authorities said the injured were rushed to a hospital nearby for treatment, but to no avail, they died.
Jaswinder Singh (JCVO), Mandeep Singh, Gajjan Singh, Saraj Singh and Vaishakh were martyred.Other injured personnel were receiving treatment in the hospital.
Encounters also took place in Anantnag and Bandipora districts while sifting for militants.In Anantnag, a terrorist was gunned down, and another policeman was injured.
Security forces searched after receiving information that some terrorists were roaming around the Jagti refugee camp in Jammu.However, after the targeted killings in Kashmir Valley, the Kashmiri Pandits are taking shelter in this camp.
