On the occasion of Azadika Amrit Mahotsav, Prime Minister Modi held a virtual meeting with the Chief Ministers today.It was attended by AP CM YS Jagan along with several Chief Ministers.
He spoke on the problems facing the power sector in particular as well as the widening gap between rich and poor.
CM Jagan, who participated in a virtual meeting organized by the Prime Minister today to mark the 75th anniversary of independence, expressed happiness that the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is being organized under the visionary leadership.
The Mahotsav provided an opportunity to reminisce about the country’s glorious past, to enjoy the cultural, social, economic and scientific achievements of its admirable journey of 75 years, and to reaffirm our commitment to the nation’s progress.Jagan said the freedom fighters were being honored on the occasion.
Jagan was happy to have the opportunity to honor the freedom fighters of the AP.
Although the present needs are being met by economic progress, it is imperative that future generations not compromise on their ability to meet their needs, said CM Jagan.Jagan said the energy sector would play a vital role in socio-economic development, adding that over the past 15 years, the country’s installed power generation capacity has increased from 1,27,423 MW to 3,84,116 MW.More importantly, thermal power generation capacity has increased from 83,982 MW to 2,34,058 MW in the last 15 years.As a result, greenhouse gas emissions are on the rise, threatening future generations.However, Jagan revealed that there are problems in the availability of renewable power sources.
