The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) is delving deeper into the Amaravati assigned land case. They’ve filed two requests in the state high court, asking for a reevaluation of the quash petition. This move comes after the CID obtained additional evidence in the case.
This new evidence is expected to bolster the case against those implicated.
The court is set to consider these requests on Monday, the 16th of October.
In a significant development, a close relative of former municipal administration minister P Narayana has provided an audio-visual statement.
This statement sheds light on how the ex-minister allegedly acquired assigned lands unlawfully from farmers in over two dozen villages in the capital region during the TDP’s tenure prior to 2019.
These lands were reportedly acquired with the assistance of Narayana’s relatives, employees, and intermediaries.
Allegedly, farmers from SCs, STs, and Backward Classes were coerced with the claim that the assigned land belonged to the state government and would be taken without any compensation.
Following a complaint from YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, the CID initiated a case in March 2021, citing relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, and Andhra Pradesh Assigned Lands (Prohibition of Transfer) Act.
In the investigation, TDP national president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was identified as the primary accused.P Narayana was also named as a participant.
Currently, Naidu is detained in Rajamahendravaram Central Prison in connection with the alleged Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) scam.
The CID, which is also looking into the Inner Ring Road (IRR) case, has included the names of Chandrababu Naidu and Narayana, along with other private individuals and companies.
According to the CID, Naidu and Narayana played significant roles in devising the master plan and attempting to alter the alignment of the inner ring road.
