He said the state government was cursing the poor for delaying its share payments.Somu Veerraju was angry that the Jagan government was squandering its own money by not giving new money for the construction of houses for the poor.In a letter to the CM, Somu Veerraju said that due to the attitude of the state government, 15.75 lakh houses to be built in the first phase were limited to foundation stones.
When will the dream of a poor people home come true? Somu Veerraju asked in the letter.They demanded that CM Jagan tell them when the state government will deposit its share.
He said the delay was turning into a curse for the poor only in terms of the share given by the state government.That is why he wrote the open letter with the intention of reminding the government.Somuveerraju alleged that while the Center was allocating funds for the construction of houses with the aim of providing shelter to every poor family, the state government was not releasing a matching grant.
“If your government is wasting two and a half years on its own bins for housing without giving new money, it is the poor people in the state who will suffer if the repayment houses are not sanctioned.
Even through this letter the government should take this matter into consideration and reply to the people of Andhra Pradesh.If the government makes a clear statement regarding the construction of houses, the doubts of the beneficiaries will go away.Housing with matching grant from the Central Government In the first phase, the construction of 15.75 lakh houses was limited to foundation stones.The caterpillars stayed where the houses were built as the state was limited to land acquisition to be completed by December.
The main reason seems to be that the state government has not given a matching grant of Rs 50 lakh.
Even if the state government grants at least one lakh per house, 80 per cent of the houses will be completed.The state government has set a target of completing the grounding of 1.18 lakh houses and the construction of 41,520 houses from January to March 2022.The state government should release a matching grant to achieve this goal.
To that end, I urge the government to set a time limit for the release of the matching grant.
