Andhra Pradesh : Minister Dharmana asks YSRCP for two tickets!

The political future of esteemed leader Dharmana Prasada Rao in Srikakulam district is currently under intense scrutiny.

Serving as a Minister in the present government, Rao has a distinguished political career, having secured victories in Narasannapeta and Srikakulam multiple times, while also holding pivotal portfolios.

In his sixties, Rao has reportedly conveyed his decision not to contest the upcoming elections.Instead, he expresses interest in a Rajya Sabha seat, should the party leadership extend the opportunity.

Additionally, there is talk of nominating his son, Dharmana Rammanohar Naidu, for the Srikakulam MLA ticket.However, party leadership seems to have different intentions.

While they may consider his aspirations for Parliament, it is more likely to be a Lok Sabha seat, rather than the Rajya Sabha position he had in mind.The party is inclined towards fielding him as the Srikakulam MP, while exploring other options for the MLA ticket.

This difference in perspective has given rise to discussions.Rao is reportedly open to contesting for the MP position if his son is granted the MLA ticket.

Yet, higher-ups in the YCP contend that this scenario isnt feasible, alluding to broader strategic plans.For over three decades, the Yerran Naidu family has exerted influence over the Srikakulam Lok Sabha seat.

Yerran Naidu, a four-time consecutive winner, held the seat from 1996 to 2004.After his passing in 2012, his son Ram Mohan Naidu secured the seat in 2014 and 2019.

In the latter elections, the YCP lost by a slim margin of around six and a half thousand votes.Allegations of the Dharmana family supporting the Kinjarapu family in Lok Sabha polls have been circulating since Yerran Naidus tenure.

Complaints from YCP candidates in the 2019 elections further drew attention to this issue.Party leaders believe that having a member of the Dharmana family in the MP race will consolidate votes from the Velama community, a crucial factor in securing victory.

The Kalinga votes, combined with this support, are expected to ensure success in the constituency.Given the stakes involved, Rao finds himself in a delicate position, contending with the pressures from the high command.

His reluctance to contest as an MP is palpable.The political trajectory of Dharmana Prasada Rao hangs in the balance, awaiting the next decisive move. .
