Lucknow : , Dec 30, : .Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Sushil Chandra, on Thursday stated that all representatives from all parties met him in Lucknow during his visit.

They agreed that Assembly elections must be held on time and follow all Covid-19 protocoles.
This indicates that the election in poll-bound countries will not be delayed.

The CEC addressed the media after his three-day visit.He stated that Uttar Pradesh has now 52.08 million new voters, who will vote in the forthcoming assembly elections.

We have added 11,000 polling stations to meet the increasing number of registered voters as well as the current pandemic.

This will ensure there are no people crowded.This will result in an increase of the polling staff.To prevent people from crowdeding the polling stations, we are increasing polling times by an hour in the entire state,” he stated.

To ensure social distancing, the number of votes per booth was reduced from 1,500 to 1,250.

According to the CEC, some parties felt that rallies needed to be kept small in light of pandemic.Others wanted paramilitary force deployment.

He stated that he had received complaints from officers about being biased.

He also stated that awareness campaigns had resulted in nearly 28.86 million new female voters, five times more than men.

He stated that the “gender ratio of female voters has increased also from 839 in 2017 and 868 in 2021.”

According to the CEC, special arrangements will be made at polling stations for seniors and divyangs.They also have the option of receiving postal ballets lists which can be accessed by political parties.

We have requested the concerned officials to examine these arrangements in order to ensure that voters have access water, toilets and sitting arrangement as well as ramps and wheelchairs.

He stated that election personnel would all be fully vaccinated and would have access to thermal scanners as well as masks, disinfectants, and sanitizers at the polling stations.

He said that he had spoken with officials to ask them to increase vaccination to ensure the eligibility of the population by the election.

This time, the Election Commission will set up 10 models booths at each Assembly segment.

Chandra stated that he spoke with officers about law and order and requested them to protect the security and safety of all voters, especially women.At polling stations, additional women officers will be stationed.

He said that he had also asked other agencies for help to make sure there was no free distribution of cash, liquor, or other goodies during the elections.
