New Delhi, Aug 29 : Akasa Air suffered an data breach that allowed individuals who were not authorized to access the information of certain of its clients, India’s newest airline has acknowledged.The airline apologized for the breach of data it claimed that there was “no deliberate attempt” to penetrate its systems.
The airline wrote in a post on its website that”a temporary technical error in the configuration of our sign-up and login service was reported to us on Thursday , August 25 2022″.
“As as a consequence of the configuration issue, certain Akasa Air registered user information that includes names and gender email addresses, and telephone numbers could be viewed by unauthorised persons,” the company elaborated on Sunday.
“We are able to confirm that apart of the above information that no travel-related data or travel records or details about payments were compromised,” it added.
Akasa Air, which operated its first flight on the 7th of August, from Mumbai to Ahmedabad It said it immediately stopped access to the unauthorised user by shutting down all functional elements of the system.
“While numerous protocols have been put in place to avoid incidents of this kind we have also taken further measures to make sure the security of all our systems is improved,” said Anand Srinivasan Co-founder and Chief Information Officer of Akasa Air.
Akasa Air “self-reported” the incident to CERT-In.
“We have also informed the affected users of the above, and informed those affected that the issue was filed with CERT-In,” it added.
“We would like to confirm that based on our data there was no deliberate hacking attack,” said the airline in which billionaire Rakesh Jhunjhunwala had made a substantial investments.
