In a shocking incident Chittoor Mayor Katari Anuradha was attacked and brutally murdered by three unknown persons in broad daylight.
She along with her husband was shot at and attacked with sharp weaponsthe brutal murder was happened in Corporation office at her chamber on Tuesday morning.
Police took the couple who were lying in a pool of blood and moved them to the Chittoor government hospital.
While Anuradha died on the way to the hospital, her husband Mohan was moved to the Vellore CMC Hospital in Tamil Nadu for treatment.
Tension prevailed in Chittoor town following the daylight murder of the mayor Katari Anuradha and police imposed Section 144 throughout the town to control any untoward incident.
As per police the attackers were from Karnataka and they wore the masks entered into the Mayor office, shot her and her husband on point blank range.
The attacked persons escaped by jumping the gate.Sources in the police say they believe it could be a case of old rivalry.
