Assembly elections in Mizoram will be held on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, and Rajasthan on November 23.The counting of votes for all states is scheduled on December 3 and the polling process will be completed by December 5.

In Chhattisgarh, polling will be held in two phases on November 7 and Nob 17 while polls will be held in a single phase in other states.

During a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the poll schedule.“The Commission recently visited the five poll-bound states and held talks with various departments connected with the election procedure.The Commission also held discussions with representatives of political parties in the five states.

Polls will be held in a total of 679 assembly constituencies in these five states.Over 60 lakh first-time voters in the age group of 18 to 19 years will cast their vote in this election,” said Rajiv Kumar.

Vote from home facility will be there for senior persons and persons with physical disabilities, informed the CEC.There will be 1.77 lakh polling stations across the five states with all basic facilities like toilets, drinking water, ramps, and signage.

The term of the Legislative Assembly in Telangana will expire on January 16, next year.

The tenure of Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Mizoram will end on January 14, January 3, January 6, and December 17 respectively.

The elections in the five states are crucial both for the ruling BJP at the Centre and the newly formed Opposition INDIA bloc.

While the KCR-led Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) which is not part of the INDIA alliance is in power in Telangana, Congress is ruling Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.Mizo National Front (MNF) is in power in Mizoram.

Meanwhile, the ruling BRS has already announced its Assembly election candidates while other parties are still deciding on their lists.
