The BJP has appointed former Telangana president and MP, Bandi Sanjay, as the national general secretary of the party. He secured a place in the list of 8 national general secretaries announced on Saturday, representing the South.
There is grapevine that he is also likely to be appointed as the in-charge of AP BJP affairs, following the removal of Sunil Deodhar as the in-charge of AP from the national executive committee.Party leaders believe that by appointing Bandi Sanjay, a firebrand leader, as the in-charge of AP affairs, he will provide a strong voice to counter the YCP government and fight against their policies.
On the other hand, Sunil Deodhar, who was serving as the state BJP co-in-charge and the party’s national secretary, has been sidelined by the party. He was appointed six years ago by then President Amit Shah and became the joint in-charge of the state in July 2018.
However, there have been controversies surrounding his performance in AP.While he publicly criticized the state government, there were allegations that he also had behind-the-scenes discussions with state government leaders.
This led to dissatisfaction among party leadership with his field-level performance. As a result of these issues, Sunil Deodhar has been removed from the national working group of the party.
However, Y.Satyakumar, who is serving as National Secretary from the state, has been continued in the same position.
