Bollywood star Alia Bhatt addressed the reports of cuts proposed by the censor board for her upcoming film “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani.” The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had suggested some changes, including the removal of scenes containing abusive words and references to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.The slogan ‘Khela hobe,’ used during the 2021 Assembly elections, was also asked to be removed.
Alia Bhatt stated that the film’s makers have made minor changes respecting the CBFC’s suggestions.
They have coordinated with the board and made the necessary edits, ensuring the final film flows seamlessly.Alia emphasized that it would be better to let the audience watch the film instead of focusing on the cuts.
The CBFC’s suggested changes included the removal of three dialogues, one of which referred to Lok Sabha and Mamata Banerjee.Another dialogue, considered vulgar and disrespectful to women, was set in a lingerie shop.Moreover, the brand of rum “Old Monk” was replaced with “Bold Monk,” and certain words like “bra” were substituted with “item.” A cussword was changed to “behen di.”
“Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani” also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi.The film depicts Ranveer Singh as Rocky Randhawa and Alia Bhatt as Rani Chatterjee, coming from contrasting backgrounds.Ranveer’s character is shown as a wealthy man who lacks geographical knowledge, while Alia’s character hails from a Bengali household valuing knowledge and intelligence.They decide to swap places and live with each other’s families to impress them.
The movie is scheduled for release in theaters on July 28.The trailer showcases the dynamics between the characters and their attempts to adapt to each other’s lifestyles.
