Kannada actor Rishab Shetty is gearing up for the highly-anticipated sequel, Kantara 2, which is set to commence shooting in August, according to sources from TV9 Kannada.The success of the first film, Kantara, has prompted Shetty to confirm that it is actually the second part of the story, with the prequel scheduled to be released later this year.
He mentioned in an interview with TV9 Kannada that the audience will have the opportunity to watch the first part next year.
Shetty has been diligently working on the script since March and has now finalized it for the upcoming installment, as per insiders.
However, the team has not yet announced the cast for the new film, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the revelation.
Vijay Kiragandur, the founder of Hombale Films, previously stated that the movie would begin production in August, specifically during the rainy season.
Some scenes in the sequel are planned to be shot during this time.Reports suggest that the budget for the new film will be even higher than the Rs 15 Crore budget of the original Kantara.
Kantara, a film based on the coastal Karnataka ritual known as ‘Bhoota Kala,’ proved to be a tremendous success.Rishab Shetty portrayed the character Kaadubettu Shiva in the movie, while Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, and Sapthami Gowda played lead roles.
The film initially released in Kannada and later gained popularity in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam languages, ultimately earning over Rs 400 crore at the box office.
