Riyasati Urdu Teachers Association has demanded that Urdu medium textbooks reflecting the syllabus be supplied at the same time when English and Telugu medium textbooks are distributed to students under the Jagananna Vidya Kanuka (JVK).
Association founder president Syed Hidayatullah, state president M.S.Imam Basha and state chief secretary Syed Iqbal said Urdu medium textbooks too should be promptly supplied to students from Class 1 to 10.They regretted that as state education authorities are not doing so in a timely manner, Urdu medium teachers are finding it difficult to take classes in their schools.
They regretted that when the education department gave Baiju’s tabs to 8th class students last year, content was not given in Urdu.
Further, Urdu to English dictionaries too had not been provided.
Hidayatullah, Basha and Iqbal demanded that the state government organise a special Urdu DSC immediately and fill up 100 per cent of the Urdu medium teacher vacancies, which has not been done for the past few years.
They wondered what is the point in state government granting second official language status to Urdu when there is no action and follow-up on the related elements. They accused government officials of not cooperating in this regard.
