BJP corporators complain to Governor against Hyderabad Mayor

BJP corporators on Tuesday complained to Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan against Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi over the sessions of GHMC council meetings.They handed over a memorandum to her.BJP floor leader in the GHMC G.Shankar Yadav said that the mayor did not follow the rules and regulations of the council meetings.

Stating that a retired officer in the HMWS&SB got an extension in service and apprehending protests a plan was hatched by the ruling BRS to get the council meeting boycotted.

They also said that Kukatpally zonal commissioner Mamatha also got promotions violating all the rules.

BJP corporators urged the Governor to intervene in the matter for good governance in local bodies.

This comes two months after Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, BRS MLA Gongidi Sunitha and several women corporators of the ruling party were arrested after they attempted a dharna outside Raj Bhavan.

Protesting against the derogatory comments of BJP Telangana chief Bandi Sanjay, a delegation of women leaders led by the mayor sought an appointment of Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan to submit a memorandum to her in this connection.

But with the Governor not giving the appointment, they descended on Raj Bhavan and made an attempt to make their way inside the premises.

They were immediately taken into preventive detention by the Hyderabad police, who said that there was no permission for the Mayor’s delegation to meet the Governor.The mayor led a march up to Raj Bhavan and due to denial of Governor’s appointment, they submitted the copy of their memorandum to Dr B R Ambedkar statue at the Liberty Circle.

The women agitators were also seen pasting the copies of the memorandum on the walls of Raj Bhavan even as they were prevented by the police.
