The team of Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2, including director Mani Ratnam, recently met with the media and fans in Hyderabad ahead of the film’s release on April 28.During the press conference, Ratnam expressed his gratitude towards SS Rajamouli, stating that without Baahubali being made in two parts, his own film wouldn’t have been possible.
Ratnam went on to explain that Rajamouli’s film paved the way for other historical films in the industry, stating that it “opened a huge passage for a lot of Indian history to be converted into films.”
The acclaimed director, S.S.Rajamouli, also received personal thanks from the producer of “Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2”, Subaskaran Allirajah of Lyca Productions, for creating a path for the production of the film in two parts.
“Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2” is a grand historical period drama adapted from the popular Tamil literary novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy.The star-studded cast includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Karthi, and Jayam Ravi in lead roles, with the exceptionally talented AR Rahman composing the music, Ravi Varman serving as cinematographer, and Sreekar Prasad taking charge of editing.

The first part of the film was released in 2022 and was one of the highest grossing films of the year, bringing in over Rs 500 crore worldwide.The team held a pre-release event for Part 2 in Hyderabad on April 23, where Ratnam expressed his gratitude towards Rajamouli and thanked Allirajah for making the film possible.
