Panaji 13th of September : Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday stated that if management and teachers fail to provide the required classes to students in a timely manner, disciplinary action will be taken against them.The government could even consider of cutting off their funding.Sawant was speaking during the presentation of the State Teachers’ Award at this.
“Remedial classes are mandatory.
If they fail to conduct classes, actions will be taken against instructors and managers.The government might even be thinking of suspending these grants.” Sawant warned.
Sawant offered a warm welcome to the recipients of the prizes and stated that the awards were presented to those who merit them, not to be a favor.”Teachers should not approach politicians (to ask for favors) to receive awards for teachers.It’s a different matter that they seek the transfer of their award,” he said.
He advised teachers to not work for a few hours as it can distract them from their primary job of teaching.”If teachers are in business and work from home, they won’t be in a position to devote attention to students and focus on their students.Teachers must be innovative in their thinking and conduct research.They must be taught how to instruct students in more effective ways.
You must be able to attract students, so you need to focus on teaching methods that are innovative,” he said.
“The newly adopted National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) emphasizes qualified education, and the education department is striving in implementing the NEP,” he said.
According to the CM there is there is a lot of innovation is taking place on the education side, like the introduction of robotics and coding in schools.”We will start providing the equipment (for robotics and coding) in October and in the next five years, you will see significant changes in this field,” he said.
He was grateful to teachers for their work during the pandemic , by conducting online classes.
