Chennai 13th September : DMK leader and former Union Minister A.Raja spoke against the Hindu religion at an audience, prompting an outrage by the BJP.In his address to the gathering organized by Dravidar Kazhagam, Raja asked: “Who is a Hindu? We should be able to say.That we do not wish to be Hindu So, why do you keep me as a Hindu?
“I have never seen a religious system like this.Lingayats in Karnataka are suing the Supreme Court saying that their style of worship and their religious beliefs differ from other religions.They want to be declared Hindu.
But what exactly is the Supreme Court saying? The Supreme Court is saying that even if you’re not either a Christian, Muslim, or Persian then you must be a Hindu.Is there a different country that is as cruel?
“You are a shudra as long as you are a Hindu.You are the son of prostitutes till you’re a shdra.You’re a Panchaman (Dalit) until you become a Hindu.You are untouchable until you’re a Hindu.What percentage of you would like to remain in the form of children of prostitutes? What percentage of you would like to remain untouchable? If we speak up about these issues it will be essential in dissolving Sanathana (Sanatana Dharma).”
In a shrewd response to Raja’s remarks BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Sreenivasan, who is also an MLA from Coimbatore tweeted: “DMK MP A.Raja has made a mockery of women and Hindus at numerous times.This time, too, he has spewed venom , stating that shudras were children of prostitutes and will remain that way until they stay in Hinduism.”
