According to the schedule the former Congress president will remain in the LDF-run Kerala until September 30.

In conjunction with Rahul’s caricature of him, the CPI-M posted: “Bharat Jodo or seat Jodo 18 days in Kerala and 2 days in UP.bizarre ways to fight the BJP-RSS.”

In a counter-reply, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated: “Do your homework better on why and how the yatra was designed in the way it was.And snide criticism from a party which is part of the group of BJP in the state of MunduModi.”

Most importantly, Rahul Gandhi is in Kerala where the Congress intends to extend its reach. Both LDF and UDF have been at war in the state with UDF headed by Congress losing the election twice in the same period as well as at a national level, they enjoy a warm fuzzie with the Congress aligning with the Left in the West Bengal elections.

Jairam Ramesh has said that even though Rahul Gandhi may be in the top spot, the Yatra is the party’s program and everyone is a participant.

On BJP criticizing Rahul for his meeting with controversial Tamil pastor George Ponnaiah, he said that his party doesn’t support the views of the latter however RSS is just a rumor propagating the public as well as the party.

“We don’t want to fall to the level of BJP the leaders. They’re afraid. They don’t want to talk about the issues Bharat Jodo Yatra brings up with the people.

So why do they talk about T-shirts, underwearand containers,” he added.

He stated that BJP was not accustomed to an aggressive response to Congress but now, if they engage in unruly behavior, they will get an appropriate response.

The Congress Yatra has received an overwhelming response in the past five days with extensive media coverage, he said thanking the media for the attention.

After having covered Kerala The rally will then move on to Karnataka beginning on the 1st day of October.
