China responds to an emergency situation as the threat of typhoon Muifa gets closer

Beijing 12 September : China has activated an emergency response at level IV to deal with the threat of Muifa which is the 12th typhoon in the year is moving closer to the eastern coast of China and is expected to enter the East China Sea on Monday.
From Monday through Friday, heavy rainfalls and storms are expected to be a threat to areas such as areas of Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Shandong, Xinhua news agency quoted the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM) as saying.

The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has sent two teams of workers to Jiangsu and Zhejiang to help and guide typhoon prevention as well as emergency response in accordance with the MEM.

It is recommended to increase monitoring and safeguard against the typhoon-triggered catastrophes The headquarters stated and suggested that ships take refuge in harbors, and offshore workers be brought onshore.

Level IV response is considered to be the lowest in China’s emergency response system.
