Dubai 11th September : Numerous reports posted on social media this Sunday claimed that a lot of Indian fans with valid tickets but wore an Indian jersey were refused access to the Dubai International Cricket Stadium for the Asia Cup 2022 final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The details were first announced by the official Indian cricket fan club known as the Bharat Army, via its official Twitter account.
They released an Instagram video on their account in which some fans claimed they were refused access to the stadium due to the fact that they were wearing an Indian team’s uniform.
In the clip, a person stated that security officers advised them to only be allowed into the stadium only if they were wearing the Pakistani or Sri Lankan jersey.
“SHOCKING TREATMENT” as Bharat Army along with other Indian Cricket Fans were told that they are not allowed to wear ‘India’ jerseys’.’!,” Bharat Army published on their official Twitter page with an audio of the cricket fans’ experiences.
The Bharat Army tweeted about the ICC and the Asian Cricket Council in its tweet and demanded an inquiry into the incident.
“The @icc and @ACCMedia1 urge you to investigate since our members traveled across India for the event game and have been told that they cannot be allowed into the stadium by officials from the local government and police! What a shocking and shocking experience!”
When asked to bat first, Sri Lanka rode impressive fighting fifty by Bhanuka Rajapaksa (71 not out of 45) and an attacking knock from Wanindu Hasaranga (36 off 21) to score 170/6 in the match against Pakistan in the game.
In addition to Rajapaksa and Hasaranga, Dhananjaya de Silva (28 off 21) and Chamika Karunaratne (14 not out from 14) also had crucial knocks for Sri Lanka, during their time in the crease.
