Los Angeles, Sep 10 : For many years wishes have been an integral aspect of Disney history as evident in songs like ‘When you Wish upon a Star’ or “A Dream is a Wish That Your Heart makes’.Disney’s upcoming film, appropriately called ‘Wish’, is taking this idea to the highest level, the company revealed during the D23 Expo on Friday.The animated film is set in Rosas the land of wishes.It was revealed during the D23 Expo on Friday.
The film focuses on the power of wishes, and blends the classic watercolour Disney animation style with modern, CGI look.Ariana DeBose will be playing Asha 17-year-old, the protagonist and heroine of “Wish,” as reported by Variety.
Jennifer Lee wrote the film, with Chris Buck, Fawn Veerashunthorn director.
DeBose performed for fans of the D23 audience to an live performance of “More for Us” one of the songs in the album Wish.
The film will be released in theaters in November 2023 in celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary.
Alan Tudyk voices an adorable goat named Valentino in the film.Julia Michaels, the recording artist who is best known for her hit song “Issues” and her Billboard No.1 hit ‘Sorry’ as well as “Lose You to Love Me and ‘Lose You to Love Me’, will compose music for the musical that she has written herself.
DeBose recently received an Oscar for the best supporting actress in “West Side Story” which co-starred with in the upcoming film ‘Snow White’ with Rachel Zegler.Tudyk has previously provided his voice to a variety of Disney animated films, including “Wreck it Ralph, ‘Frozen and ‘Big Hero Six”, ‘Moana “Raya and The Last Dragon and “Encanto,”.
The actor will play the role of father Mr.Darling in the live-action Disney+ film ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’.
“Wish” is the 62nd Walt Disney Animation Studio feature film.
It is a sequel to the coming “Strange World,”” sci-fi adventure film with Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by Don Hall.
Other animated films that are scheduled to be released by Disney include the Pixar film ‘Elemental’ scheduled to release in June 16th 2023.
Other musicals scheduled to be released by Disney include Disney+’s ‘Disenchanted’ as well as the live-action version of “The Little Mermaid”.
