Chennai 10th September : Chennai, Sep 10 : Greater Chennai police have rejected the request of removed AIADMK coordinator O.Panneerselvam (OPS) for security to be provided by the police to access the party’s headquarters in the city.The protection of the police was requested by the leaders who are close to the OPS.
On the 11th of July, when the AIADMK general council meeting was held in Vanagaram, OPS and his associates had walked into the party’s headquarters causing significant clashes among the party’s cadres of Panneerselvam and Palaniswami.
Following the decision of the division bench of the Madras High Court reinstated the appointment of Edappadi K.Palaniswami as interim general secretary of the AIADMK, he visited the party’s headquarters on Tuesday.
A large police force was on the scene during the visit.
Following the visit of Palaniswami following his visit, the OPS faction announced that Panneerselvam will also be making a visit to the party’s head office.
D.Jayakumar, former minister and close associate of EPS Later, he filed an application with the Chennai police alleging that OPS was removed from the party, and he shouldn’t be permitted access to the AIADMK headquarters.
The police of the city have issued a directive to OPS not to go into the party’s headquarters at the moment because he could be subject to physical assault.
The police also stated that he could be granted security only after having assessed the law and the order situation.
