Washington 8th of September : The US State Department has approved the possibility of selling of F-16 maintenance equipment and other aircraft to Pakistan in the amount of at $450 million, according the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DCSA).The main contractor is Lockheed Martin Corp, Geo News reported, citing DSCA as declaring in an announcement.
“The State Department has made an approval decision for a possible Foreign Military Sale to the government of Pakistan of F-16 Case for Sustainment and related equipment at an estimated price of $450 million” it said in the report.
The package comprises US government and contractors providing engineering, technical, and logistics services that will help support Pakistan’s F-16 fleet.
The statement further stated that the sale will make available to Pakistan with any brand-new capabilities, weapons or weapons, Geo News reported.
The agency also stated that “this planned sale will further support the foreign policy and security goals of the US by permitting Pakistan to continue to cooperate with US and other forces in ongoing counterterrorism efforts as well as in planning for future operation in case of emergency”.
The company further stated that the sale is expected to continue to support the maintenance of Pakistan’s F-16 fleet, which significantly enhances Pakistan’s capability to support counter-terrorism operations with its strong air-to-ground capability according to Geo News.
Pakistan will have no trouble taking these goods and other services in its military it said.
It stated that the planned sale of the equipment and support will not change the fundamental balance of force in the region.
There is no negative effect on U.S.defense readiness as the result of the sale being proposed the report said.
