Bhubaneswar 7 September : Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced on Wednesday that his government would support the high-quality of Kho Kho and establish an arena and a high-performance center to help improve the game.Patnaik made the announcement while congratulating the Odisha Juggernauts for “scripting history” by emerging champions at the first version of the Ultimate Kho Kho League.
He handed out a cash prize of two crores to the team during the celebration ceremony held in the Kalinga Stadium here this evening.
The Chief Minister stated: “Kho Kho has been an ancient sport that was that was restricted to the rural belts and interiors with only a small audience.You wrote the history of the sport with the victory you won in the Ultimate Kho Kho.It will be remembranced and debated for many days to come.”
“It will also encourage younger players to take up the sport as an official sport.Today people are talking about Ultimate Kho Kho and Odisha Juggernauts and we are extremely satisfied of our squad,” he added.
Ultimate Kho Kho CEO Tenzing Nyogi, presented the team with a the gold medal to the CM.
Kho Kho Federation of India President Sudhanshu Mittal appreciated the kind of energy, enthusiasm, and support Odisha provides to the sport and their team.Kho Kho requires this kind of help from every state, he said.
Niyogi also expressed his delight over the achievement.Secretary to the Chief Minister (5T), V.K.Pandian also felicitated the team for their outstanding performance in the league.
