New Delhi, Sep 7 : Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has received an official complaint to Delhi Lokayukta against the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, requesting an investigation into an suspected stamp duty avoidance.
The complaint claims that Kejriwal sold three plots at Rs 4.54 crore, but he had on paper an untrue cost of the equivalent of 72.72 lakh, as per an informant.

“Arvind Kejriwal was grossly undervalued and sold three commercial plots in the city on a 100-foot road located in the market in Bhiwani, Haryana, on February 15, 2021 at a price of 4.54 crores.4.54 crores in actual value and then put the paper with an unjustly low price of the equivalent of 72.72 lakhs,” the complaint read.

It further stated that in the course of his investigation, Kejriwal not only got unaccounted cash of the sum of Rs 3.8 crore and also dodged stamp duty of 25.93 lakhs, as well as tax on capital gains that amounted to 76.4 lakh, in addition to obvious tax avoidance.

“All three properties were sold the same day.The plots that were sold, measuring 254, 416 and 340 sq yards respectively, were purchased by the wife of the CM, Sunita Kejriwal, for the sum of 24.48 lakh as well as Rs 30 lakh and 18.24 lakh and Rs 18.24 lakh, respectively, at a price of Rs 8,300/sq yard even though the market value in the vicinity was more expensive, i.e., Rs 45,000 per square yard.The stamp duty that was paid for the three plots were 1,41,200, 1,73,700 and Rs 1,12,500, respectively,” the complaint claimed.

While two of the properties were in the name of Arvind Kejriwal, the owner of the properties The third one was in his father Govind Ram’s name, according to the complaint.

It stated, “However, the buyers who were in in contact with the undersigned on the condition of anonymity claimed that Kejriwal sold the plots for the market price of 1.33 crore, Rs 1.87 crore and Rs 1.53 crore and the price was between Rs 1.87 crore and 1.14 crore.1.14 crore and received the amount that was higher than the rate of the rate of Rs 8,300/square yard as stated in the sale contract in cash.

“In the course of this, Arvind Kejriwal and his wife evaded stamp duty of the sum of 10.68 lakh for the plot of 416 square yards and the amount of 8.73 lakh for the plot of 340 square yards, as well as Rs 6.52 lakh for the plot of 254 sq yards, which resulted in an aggregate loss of the sum of 25.93 lakhs to the state’s budget.”

Saxena has sent the complaint to the Chief Secretary for further action.
