Bengaluru 7 September : In a blow against the ruling BJP and the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday requested the court that is special for MPs and MLAs to review the corruption case brought against the former CM B.S.Yediyurappa who was recently appointed to the highest decision-making body of the BJP as well as the Central Parliamentary Board and Central Election Committee.The bench, led by Justice S.Sunil Dutt Yadav issued the order in connection with the petition filed by activist T.J.Abraham demanding a investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) against Yediyurappa and his family members.
The petition claimed that while using power during his time as the Chief Minister Yediyurappa as well as his relatives were bribed in the amount of hundreds of millions of dollars from Ramalingam Construction Company for giving it contracts for housing projects of the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA).
The special court thrown out the private complaint filed against Yediyurappa and other for failing to obtain the prior permission of Governor.The High Court has set aside the order and ordered the lower court to reconsider its decision.
The petition has brought Yediyurappa’s nephew and BJP Vice President B.Y.Vijayendra, son-in-law Virupakshappa Yamakanamaradi, Yediyurappa’s daughter’s son-in-law, Chandrakanth Ramalingam, Co-operation Minister S.T.Somashekar IAS officer Dr G.C.Prakash and others are also parties in the corruption investigation.
The bench also declared that the special court would make an opinion regarding the registration of the FIR as well as the investigation.
The matter was filed with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) under different provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the IPC on November 11 the 11th of November, 2020.
The verdict of the court could prove to be an affront for Yediyurappa is preparing to be the leader of the BJP in Karnakata in the period leading up to the Assembly elections.
