Los Angeles, Sep 6 : Actress Tiffany Haddish has spoken out in her response to the child abuse lawsuit brought against her as well as comedian Aries Spears. “I am aware that people have a ton of questions.I get it.I’m there with you,” Haddish wrote on Instagram.
“Unfortunately due to an ongoing legal matter I have nothing I can say at this point. While the sketch was intended to be humorous but it was not funny in the least and I’m deeply regretting having agreed to take part in the matter.I am looking at the possibility of being able to talk more information about this issue in the near future.”
Last week, a lawsuit was filed by an anonymous woman the suit claims that the duo of Haddish and Spears used Jane Doe, now 22 and John Doe, her brother, who is now 14 in two sketches that were that were filmed while they were kids.
In one video called ‘Through the Eyes of a Pedophile”, Spears’ character plays an alleged pedophile who is lusting after John Doe, who was seven years old at the time, as per the lawsuit.Haddish is the mother of the boy who abandons her son with the male.
According to The Daily Beast: “John (Doe) spends the majority of the film clad in his underwear while Spears is seen looking at him through two holes in the newspaper he pretends to read.
“During the sketch the camera zooms in and focuses on the child’s buttocks and crotch as he plays.
Spears sprays baby oil on the back of the child and massages it into the shoulders in one scene, while at another point , the child plays with the train in an approach that resembles masturbation phallic. In a different sequence, Spears smokes a cigarette while watching the child naked in the bathtub. He then pours water over his feet.”
The video closes with the following text: “Watch who you leave your children with.”
Funny or Die, where Spears initially posted the clip, she removed the video in 2018 and said to The Daily Beast it was “absolutely disgusting”.
Haddish’s lawyer, Andrew Brettler, said in an interview with Vanity Fair that the plaintiff’s mother, Trizah Morris, has “been trying to prove these false accusations against Ms.Haddish for some time”.
Brettler added: “Every attorney who has initially taken up her case and there were many ended up dropping the case after it was clear that the claims were not valid and that Ms.Haddish could not be disarmed.
“Now, Morris has her adult daughter representing herself in this lawsuit. The two of both will have to be confronted with the consequences of taking this frivolous action.”
