Kolkata 5 Sep : The Enforcement Directorate (ED), investigating the multi-crore West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment fraud Monday afternoon, the ED arrested a middleman who was known as Subrata Talukdar.The third middleman to be detained in the scam, but the first one was arrested by the ED.Two middlemen, named Pradeep Singh and Prasanna Roy, were detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation.Roy is a relative of the former West Bengal Education Minister and Trinamool Congress Secretary General, Partha Chatterjee who is currently in the judicial system for his possible involvement in the fraud.
Malakar was well-known in his community as a chartered accountant who practiced.At about 8 a.m.on Monday, a group of ED investigators arrived at his home in Sodepur in North 24 Parganas district.But, he wasn’t at home at his home and the ED officials requested his wife to call the man and ask him to come back as soon as possible.
After he returned, ED detectives began interviewing him, and after more than six hours of lengthy interrogation, he was finally taken into custody.
The ED investigators also confiscated bank passbooks, accounts statements of accounts, and other documents from his office.Transfers of massive amount from these accounts also identified from these bank accounts.
“We were able to question Malakar about these transactions , including the source of the funds used for these transactions.We did not receive a satisfactory answer, therefore, we decided to arrest him,” an ED official said.
In the meantime the special CBI court was held on Monday afternoon extended the CBI custody of Roy for a further four days, up to September 9.
