Ex-aicc Secretary Dares Goa Cm To Drop Minister \'accused\' Of Land Grab

Ex-AICC secretary tells Goa CM to drop minister “accused” of land grab

Panaji, September 3 : A claiming that a cabinet minister in the BJP-led government in Goa is involved in land taking and land grabbing, the former All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Girish Chodankar, on Saturday, urged chief minister Pramod Sawant to look into the specific case and determine the name of his ministers is the’mastermind’ behind this illegal practice.
He stated that a police complaint in this regard was filed at the Porvorim police station on the 20th of July by a person whose name was Sales Francisco Fernades, who is the holder of the power of attorney of the land.

“A complaint was filed with the vigilance department as well as the panchayat. However, neither investigated the issue, nor the case was transferred to the SIT,” Chodankar said.

The SIT led by SP (Crime Branch) Nidhin Valsan was formed in July 2022 to investigate complaints with concerns to illegal land taking and conversion.

“The protest has been shut down by the police due to political pressure.

The Mumbai-based party, which seized the property of an innocent Goan with protection from the political system has already begun building work in the parcel,” he said.

Chodankar said that should the government fail to respond to the complaint filed by Francisco Fernades, he will be forced to initiate another investigation of land grabbing in which the minister in question is involved.

“The lack of action of Sawant in this regards is a clear sign that he would like to let his own land-grabber minister to go scot free,” Chodankar said.

According to Chodankar the Chief Minister is reportedly arresting only the perpetrators of crime, not the criminals who are behind it.
