Los Angeles, Sep 3 : Top chart-topping star Ed Sheeran has enjoyed huge success since bursting into the music world back in 2011, but fans have be prepared since his retirement is only two years from now.The 31-year-old chart-topping artist isn’t as fresh-faced as he was when he made his debut on the music scene more than a decade ago, according to mirror.co.uk.
Sheeran who has racked up five top-five albums and 10 top ten singles in his career to date He says he hopes to replicate Coldplay’s success of Coldplay and retire in the highest of his game following a 20-year career.
The Sun reports that he told an event recently: “My next milestone is .Coldplay have lasted for 20 years of their career, therefore I would like to reach 20 years in my career.I believe this is a goal that’s doable.
“But it’s still very scary because it’s a long distance away.I’m still young in my career when compared with those as famous as U2 or Coldplay however U2 as well as Coldplay are two bands that I’m glued to.”
He also praised the duo of U2 as well as Coldplay for their stellar careers that now allow them the chance to tour arena tours that sell out and are filled with songs.
Sheeran first exploded into the scene in the year 2011, meaning he has given himself only nine years to record albums and songs.
The debut single of his career”The A Team’, was released in June of 2011 and peaked at the top of the charts at number three in the charts for singles.
His first top-charting single”Sing” released in 2014, and his other chart-toppers include “Shape of You and the Justin Bieber duet ‘I Don’t Care’.
In addition the five of his studio albums to date have been atop the chart of albums.
Sheeran has been threatening to quit the music industry in the past, saying he would quit his career when he became father.
But, after marrying his wife Cherry Seaborn and welcoming their first child, Sheeran previously said: “I was convinced that I’d never sing or play the guitar ever again.I was like, ‘No.That’s it.I quit”
“I askedmyself, what is more important to my child and family? Is it being present 100 percent of the time without having to go to London for a few hours? (.) or having a daughter who knows that her dad and mum have an amazing work ethic and truly enjoy their work?”
Sheeran did however announce his semi-retirement at he aged 28 in August 2019 .He did emerge from his self-imposed exile only to return to the limelight a little more than a year after he left the music scene.
