Bharat Jodo Yatra Rahul will reach Sriperumbudur in TN on Sept 7

New Delhi, Sep 2 : In advance of the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yotra the party’s chief Rahul Gandhi will be visiting the Rajiv Gandhi memorial at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu on September 7.
The Gandhi son is scheduled to visit the spot for the first time since his father and ex-Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was murdered in 1991.

In the afternoon, at 3 p.m., Rahul Gandhi will visit Vivekananda Rock Memorial, as well as Thiruvalluvar Memorial and Kamaraj memorial.

4.p.m.in the evening the all-religion prayer will be held in the Gandhi Mandapam at Kanyakumari where Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin will transfer the Tricolour to Wayanad MP.The leaders will walk to the venue for the meeting in the vicinity of the Gandhi Mandapam.

The meeting will take place at 5 p.m.at which point an announcement of the launch of the Yatra will be announced.

On September 8th on, the padyatra (foot march) will begin at Vivekananda Institute at 7 a.m.and will last for 3 hours.The march will end at 3.30 p.m.on the same day and continue until 6.30 p.m.Every day, the yatra is scheduled to be 21 miles long.

The yatra is scheduled to reach Kerala on the 11th of September, and will remain there for 18 more days before getting to Karnataka on September 30.The trek continues in Karnataka for 21 days.

In the Yatra during the yatra, the Tricolour will be displayed instead of the Congress flag.

The Congress said that the padyatra was aimed at to eliminate hatred.

The yatra that will pass across 12 states will travel 3,500km starting from Kanyakumari up to Jammu and Kashmir in five months (150 days) and 118 of the nation’s leaders will take part in it.The preliminary list of leaders who will take part in the yatra includes Congress Youth leader Kanhaiya Kumar, Pawan Kheda and former Punjab Minister Vijay Inder Singla.

According to Congress sources after the inception of the Bharat Jodo website, about 37,000 people have logged on it.The Congress is planning to include them as volunteers in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The yatris of the volunteer community are classified into the categories of ‘Bharat Yatri’, ‘Athiti Yatri and the ‘Pradesh Yatri’.
