The tech giant is accused of using its monopoly to “crush” developers who compete with it by imposing “exploitive fees and the selective application of unconvincing and unreasonable restrictions” according to the lawsuit.

Eleftheriou was the plaintiff in the California’s Superior Court in Santa Clara County.

He claimed that Apple not only rescinded the FlickType Apple Watch keyboard application in the App Store, “it then accepted other keyboard apps, including others that made use of an integrated version of FlickType keyboard to publish to the App Store”.

This was in contradiction to Apple’s claims that the FlickType keyboard provided an “poor user experience”.

In the end, FlickType’s revenues plummeted from $130,000 in its first month to only $20,000 after users praised the app for being “better-rated” similar apps on the App Store.

Eleftheriou has gained a reputation for finding “egregious frauds” within the App Store in a time that Apple has changed a number of its rules to help app developers.

Apple has reinstated the “Report a problem” button in the App Store.

The company has also revised the App Store’s guidelines to remove fraud and scams, by removing fraudsters.
