Los Angeles, Sep 2 : Rapper Kendrick Lamar has released his short film “We Cry Together,” an remake of the track featuring Taylour Paige of Mr.Morale and the Big Steppers.The short film, which was shot in one shot, produced by Lamar, Dave Free, and Jake Schreier, was recorded live on a soundstage in March of 2020.It was which was more than two years prior to when Mr.Morale and the Big Steppers was released in May 2022, according to rollingstones.com.
The video, just like the song “We Cry Together” depicts a fight between a couple, portrayed by rappers as well as actress ‘Zola and their eventual reconciliation, which is graphic and yet censored.
Similar to Taylor Swift’s ‘All too Well: A Short Film’, ‘We Cry Together’ is a candidate in the Best Live Action Short category at the 2023 Academy Awards after the short film was released in an Los Angeles movie theatre in June.
“We Cry Together” was shown only once per day in the course of the weeklong screening with every show being mostly occupied by family and friends of the artist, although only a small number of fans were allowed into the screenings; phones were confiscated prior to every screening to ensure that the footage was not leaked until the show’s online debut on Thursday.
