Chitradurga (Karnataka) Chitradurga (Karnataka) 1 : Lingayat seer Dr Murugha Shivamurthy Sharanaru, accused of sexually assaulting minors was finally arrested by the Karnataka Police on Thursday night – just six days after an FIR against him was filed.Police sources have said that the suspect seer would be presented to a judge on Friday.
Chitradurga Rural police station inspector Balachandra Balachandra, an inspector at Chitradurga Rural Police Station, took Sharanaru to the custody of the mutt, and then took him to the office of the DSP.He will also be subjected to a medical test.
However, sources from the mutt community claimed that the seer surrendered to the police.
Sharanaru is being investigated in the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act following the alleged case of brutal sexual assaults against minor girls.
He is believed to have been assisted by a woman warden junior pontiff and other members of staff in the investigation of the crimes.
Junior pontiff Basavaditya and the Mutt’s Secretary Paramashivaiah and advocate Gangadharaiah, also being investigated in the trial, are fugitive.
