New Delhi, Sep 1 : Bharti Airtel on Thursday unveiled an entirely new Cloud portfolio of products to various business segments as the company prepares to launch 5G services in the country.The new cloud services will be part of the Edge Cloud Portfolio and include Edge Content Delivery Network (CDN).
Airtel Cloud’s Edge CDN accelerates web and video content delivery using its edge network in order to deliver video and content as close the users as is possible.
This decreases the time to download, costs, and the load on servers, making it easier for businesses to concentrate on the performance of their apps for OTT gaming, ed-tech and healthcare.
“Airtel has three strengths that allow us to provide a distinct set of cloud-based services.We have 12 huge data centres as well as 120+ edge locations.
We also have an extensive network with extensive coverage across the entire country and to the majority of locations across the world,” said Ajay Chitkara Director and CEO of Airtel Business.
Airtel is engaged with two of the biggest OTT firms in India and other countries on this platform.
“With 5G just around the corner businesses will benefit from the high bandwidth, low latency, and high density of the 5G spectrum to address critical issues using edge computing.” stated Chitkara.
Airtel has announced that it will utilize Edge Cloud applicationd eveloper Qwilt’s “Open Edge Cloud’ solution for deployment.
“Our edge architecture offers an entirely new economical model to deliver streaming in which Airtel Cloud’s Edge CDN plays a central role in the value chain that runs from beginning to end,” said Alon Maor CEO of Qwilt.
Airtel has recently become the first business to try a private network within the Bosch facility in Bengaluru.Airtel is also launching its Edge compute service to customers.
The company stated that there will be a variety of specific cloud solutions to be brought in to meet specific industry requirements in the near future.
