Mumbai 1st, September : Famous cricketer Sachin Tendulkar will be the captain of the champions India Legends in the second edition of the Road Safety World Series (RSWS) scheduled to take place from September 10 through October 1.The tournament will take place in Kanpur, Raipur, Indore and Dehradun.
Kanpur is hosting the tournament’s opening match and Raipur hosts the semifinals as well as the final.
New Zealand Legends are the new team in this edition.
They are joining with the Legends of India, Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh and England during the 22-day competition designed to raise awareness of road safety in the country and across the world.
“The Road Safety World Series is a fantastic initiative to raise awareness about road safety by playing cricket.
We want every person in this nation to be aware and follow all regulations and rules when driving and to achieve this we must increase awareness among the citizens I am confident that this series will be able to accomplish that and accomplish the aim of protecting lives along Indian highways,” declared Nitin Gadkari the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India.
The Road Safety World Series (RSWS) is supported by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Information & Technology and Youth Affairs & Sports Government of India.27th Sports, backed by the US-based 27th Investments, are the sole holder of the marketing rights of the league, while Professional Management Group (PMG) is the event’s managing partner.
“I am certain that the Road Safety World Series will create social change and serve as a great platform to influence people’s attitudes toward their behavior regarding road safety and the roads,” stated Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information & Technology and Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
Thakur who was the former BCCI chief, also stated the BCCI chief also said that he is “extremely happy to learn that legendary players from eight nations i.e.Australia, West Indies, South Africa, England, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and hosts India will be taking part in the tournament.’
The coming season of Road Safety World Series will be telecast on Colors Cineplex, Colors Cineplex Superhits and the newly launched Sports18 Khel while it will be streamed digitally via Voot as well as Jio.
The purpose of the Road Safety World Series is to create changes in the social sphere in the country , and alter people’s perception of road safety.Since cricket is the second most watched game in the country and the players are regarded as idols by many the public, this League serves as a perfect venue to affect and transform the mindset of people regarding their behavior on the road.
