Chandigarh 31 August : Chandigarh, Aug 31 : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday urged Governor to suggest CBI and ED investigations into the alleged tax fraud of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab.It stated that the revamped excise policy of the state government was similar to the Delhi policy, and that the same method of operation was used to grant the control of the business of liquor to his henchmen in exchange for kickbacks that ranged up to hundreds of crores.
A SAD delegation headed by its President Sukhbir Singh Badal met Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit and handed over an official memorandum that stated that the Chief Minister as well as Excise Minister had violated the rules of the Official Secrets Act by making official documents of the state accessible to Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and MP Raghav Chadha, as well as private individuals.
It also noted that the Delhi Chief Secretary in his report said that Delhi excise policies are an arrangement for quid pro quo at the highest level.
