San Francisco, Aug 30 : Meta has announced that users will be able to connect non-fungible tokens (NFTs) posts on Instagram to Facebook.The company announced that, as it continues rolling out digital collectibles and digital items on Facebook as well as Instagram, “we’ve started giving people the ability to share digital collectibles they own on both Facebook as well as Instagram”.
This will allow users to link their digital wallets to one application in order to make it possible to share digital treasures across both apps, Meta said in an announcement in the late hours of Monday.
Meta is testing support for NFT “digital collectible” posts on Instagram since May.
The feature lets you connect an electronic wallet sharing digital collectibles, and automatically tag the creator and the collector.
Meta stated that there are no costs related with sharing or posting the digital collectibles on Instagram.
The NFT feature has been extended to include 100 nations in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas.
“Additionally we now accept wallet connection with the Coinbase Dapper and Wallet Dapper and the ability to upload digital collectibles that are minted through the Flow blockchain,” according to Meta.
The company supports connection with third-party wallets, including Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet and Dapper Wallet.
Blockchains that are currently supported are Ethereum, Polygon and Flow.
Once connected Creators and collectors be able to select which NFTs from their wallets they’d like to share on Instagram.
When a collector or creator publishes a digital collectible it will be adorned with an effect of shimmer and show public information, for example, the description of the NFT.Posts will also appear in their profile.
