By Sundeep Pouranik Bhopal August 28 : While there more than a year to go until the elections for the assembly in Madhya Pradesh, both prominent political parties including the ruling BJP and the Congress in opposition are stepping up their preparations to win the elections and are fully in the election phase. As Congress conducts a field survey to determine the candidate, BJP is busy gathering the opinions of the party’s leaders.
Both parties appear to be gaining lessons from the elections for the assembly of 2018.They are wary of any type of slippage.
The reason for this is that in the election of 2018, Congress came to power with some gains, but neither party was able to win the majority.
In the assembly of 230 MLAs Congress was able win 114 and BJP 110, but because of the support of SP-BSP and independents, Congress created the government.
There was a rift in Congress and the government was dissolved in 2020.This led to the fact that BJP had the chance to assume the presidency after an entire year and half.
While BJP is the dominant party in the state, they’re aware about the elections in 2023 as the outcome of the 2018 election is not forgotten. The power of BJP has grown since the assembly elections of 2018 because Jyotiraditya Scindia, a seasoned Congress leader who was a Congress leader, is now with BJP.In addition there were more than two dozen MLAs have joined BJP.
BJP was able to win significantly in the by-elections aswell because the 17 Congress MLAs who voted cross-wise during the presidential election.Overall the BJP’s position remains solid, but it is worried should a situation similar to 2018 occur again.
While BJP’s chief of staff Vishnu Dutt Sharma is touring across the state taking part in campaigns to strengthen the party He is focusing on the the strength of the booth.
The party is also taking seriously the outcome of the recent civic body elections. As a result, out of sixteen municipal corporations Congress mayoral candidates won 5 seats, while two seats were awarded to other candidates.
The BJP is especially looking for people who might rebel or are involved in activities that are against the party. This is the reason why it keeps taking action against those who are involved in such activities.
In addition, feedback on the grassroots level is being collected.Based on this feedback the candidates for forthcoming elections to the assembly will be selected.
While BJP is working to increase its mobilization, Congress has also intensified its ground preparations.Kamal Nath has appointed in-charge and co-in-charges at district-level and has increased the scope of surveying as well.
he has also clarified in the recent meeting that only those named in the survey will be used.
Kamal Nath’s behavior is sharp in these days, he is instructing the party leaders and keeping an eye on those who could be a threat to the party.
In addition, he is also alert should there be a rout within the party.
Political analysts believe it will be a fierce battle between BJP and Congress in the state in the upcoming assembly elections and that is the reason both parties are working to move forward.
If BJP has a solid organization and is able to win, then the biggest chance for Congress can be seen in the failings of the state government and Central government.
So, both parties are planning for elections in their own way.A stronger party is more likely to be met with success, while rebellion could make the party suffer.
