Kolkata 27 Aug : The CBI is reportedly tightening its grip on Trinamool Congress strongman Anubrata Mondal who is currently in detained in judicial custody for suspected involvement in the multi-crore cattle smuggling scheme.The CBI team investigating the post-poll violence in 2021 in West Bengal on Saturday arrested three Trinamool leaders All of who are said to be close to Mondal.
Three others were summoned to the Camp Office of CBI in Bolpur to undergo interrogation in the investigation.
At the date of the filing of the report CBI detectives have not revealed the names of the three persons arrested and the three other suspects who were summoned to question them.
The suspects are expected to appear before the district court in Birbhum on Sunday.
CBI sources told reporters that as of Saturday morning, three people were questioned in the context with the ongoing investigation into a post-poll violence incident in Birbhum district.
After noticing discrepancies throughout the course of interrogation, CBI detectives were able to arrest them on Saturday evening.
To recall, following the 2021 Assembly elections in West Bengal, several complaints of post-poll violence were filed in different parts of the state.
Teams of different members of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) visited the state, met with the families of victims and submitted a report that included various important Trinamool leaders lawmakers, ministers, and even legislators accountable for the violence.
In response to the suggestions of the NHRC The Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI investigation into the matter.
