WBSSC fraud: CBI arrests one more middleman, the second on Wednesday (Ld)

Kolkata 27 August : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) late on Friday evening, detained another middleman in the multi-crore West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment fraud.The person arrested is identified as Prasanna Roy.
He is the second middleman in this fraud to be taken into custody by the sleuths from the central agency since Wednesday.CBI sources claimed that their sleuths were conducting search and raids in different locations and with Roy as a participant with them.

It is reported that Prasanna Roy will be brought before a judge in the special court of CBI in Kolkata on Saturday.

On Thursday, CBI detectives detained one person, Pradip Singh.Singh’s principal job was to be the bridge between scammers in WBSSC and deserving candidates who are willing to pay against teacher’s appointments.In the face of questions, Singh named Prasanna Roy.

CBI detectives brought Roy to the agency’s Nizam Palace office in central Kolkata on Friday night and began interviewing the man.In the midst of questions, sources claimed, Prasanna Roy started ducking questions and making apparent attempts to deceive the officials interrogating him.Then, CBI detectives were able to arrest him.

It is the sixth indictment and fourth one by the CBI in the ongoing investigation in the multi-crore scam to recruit teachers.In the past the CBI had arrested Santi Prasad Sinha, the former chairperson of the WBSSC’s screening panel, believed to be the central figure of the whole scam, as well as Ashok Saha, the former Secretary of the commission.Both are in CBI in custody at present.

In the month of March the Enforcement Directorate arrested former West Bengal Education Minister and Trinamool Congress Secretary General, Partha Chatterjee as well as his accomplice and his alleged partner in the crime, Arpita Mukherjee in the same case.Massive gold and cash recoveries was made of two residences of Mukherjee and Chatterjee.Both are in Judicial custody right now.
