Ahmedabad 28 August : The Gujarat High Court on Friday ended the state government’s appointment of three nominees to the board of Amul Dairy, and ordered the counting of the votes in the elections for the Vice Chairman position that it will remain in the month of October 2021.Vice Chairman’s candidate for Vice Chairman and Congress MLA from Borsad Rajendrasinh Parmar and two others had challenged state government’s decision of appointing three government candidates to the board on day of elections for the posts of Chairman and Vice Chairman.
Ramsinh Parmar had won the election for the Chairman’s position without contest, but for Vice Chairman there were two contestants: Rajendrasinh Parmar and Rajesh Pathak with the support of the ruling party.
The Amul Dairy board has 13 directors and the District Registrar as well as the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) have one vote, however, the government has appointed three additional nominees.
Congress MLA Parmar stated to IANS that the Board has 15 Directors and he was supported by 9 of nine Directors while his opponent received backing of six, however to alter the outcome the government appointed three more nominees and this was a decision he opposed in the court.
