Melbourne on August 25, : Melbourne, Aug 25 : International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced that it would issue tickets for standing room only for the much-anticipated ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 match between India and Pakistan at the MCG to be played on the 23rd of October. “Over 4,500 tickets for standing room as well as a small number of additional seats will be available from 12pm AEST today on t20worldcup.com.
Tickets for the standing room are priced at $30 and will be sold on a first-come, first basis.Fans are advised to establish their T20 World Cup ticketing account in advance because of the expected demand for tickets.” stated the ICC.
In the past, in February this year general tickets for the marquee match in the coming edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup, dubbed as the “greatest rivalry” in cricket, were sold in just five minutes of being put on the market.
“The ticket release will ensure that as many fans as they can are able to attend the match scheduled for the 23rd of October on a Sunday.General ticket allocations were previously were sold out in less than five minutes of the launch in February.
A limited amount of ICC Hospitality and ICC Travel and Tours packages are available for purchase,” said the ICC.
The ICC further announced that they would also launch a re-sale website prior to the opening match on October 16.”Fans who are unable to purchase tickets can still reserve their tickets to see the top cricketers of the world during other T20 World Cup matches, with tickets for children starting at $5 and adult tickets starting at $20.”
“Tickets are still available for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final, which will also be played at the MCG on the 13th of November.”
Australia was initially planned to host the tournament in 2020, but the event was delayed due to COVID-19.The event was rescheduled for October 16-13 2022.The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will have 16 teams competing in 45 games with the final scheduled for on the 13th of November, a Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
It’s the first time that Australia will host the Men’s T20 World Cup after hosting the Women’s T20 World Cup in February to March 2020.Australia will be participating in the 8th season of the men’s T20 World Cup event as champions after claiming their first title in 2021 by defeating New Zealand in the final at the Dubai International Stadium.
