Washington 25th, August : Two persons were killed and three others injured in an incident in the northwest of Washington, D.C.on Wednesday afternoon.Police were called to North Capitol and O Street, Northwest, around 12:50 p.m.in response to reports of shots fired from guns, Xinhua news agency reported.
Two people were found with gunshot wounds.They were declared dead at the scene.
Three others were able to walk into nearby hospitals to receive medical treatment, police said.Their health conditions are not known.
The majority of the victims were believed to be adults.
Initial investigations revealed that at least two suspects left the back of a “small black vehicle” in front of a building and began shooting with semi-automatic weapons at people on the street , before taking off.
“This seems to be an open-air market for drug,” Executive Assistant Chief of Police Ashan Benedict told reporters in a statement, adding that officers frequently patrol this area and make arrests for possession of narcotics.
