Islamabad 24 August : A new rainstorm has brought more problems for residents in Pakistan’s Balochistan province which has left the province with little or no food, as flash flooding has shut down the flow of traffic between Karachi and Quetta according to the media report on Wednesday.The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned that flooding could worsen in the northeastern and central regions of the province, as reported by Geo News.
Flood victims who live in camps have been forced to return to their shabby homes after being provided with any amenities.
A highway that connects Balochistan to Punjab has been reopened for traffic.
Over 22,000 trucks filled with food items and small cars were stranded in Fort Munro for a entire week, leaving fruits and vegetables rotten.
The situation has led to an acute food crisis in Balochistan, Geo News reported.
The traffic between Balochistan and Punjab is suspended for the eighth time in a row day in Fort Munro.The efforts are in progress to clean the roads with the aid of large machinery, according to the PDMA.
The inter-provincial transport between Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also suspended for eight days at Dhana Sar.
A large number of people have been killed in the ongoing flooding that have swept across Pakistan.
Due to the devastating impact of the heavy rains in Balochistan the number of deaths in Balochistan has risen to the 230 mark, with at most five deaths on Tuesday, as per the PDMA, Geo News reported.
The death toll is 110 men and 55 women and 65 children.
In Sindh’s Larkana district more than 200 homes have been destroyed and flooding has caused the deaths of 22 individuals in the space of three days.
Schools across the province are closed until August 27.
