Bangkok 24 August : The Thai court Wednesday removed the Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha , as it looks into the possibility of a legal challenge to the length of his term.The development came after opposition parties filed an argument that Prayuth who took power in an attempted coup in 2014, has extended the duration of his tenure in office as the BBC reported.
The constitution of Thailand restricts the term of a prime minister to 8 years in office.
Prayuth was elected to office in 2019 following an election that was supervised by the military government.
Vice-Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, who is also an ex-army chief who is likely to become the interim prime minister according to the Cabinet order of succession.
