Los Angeles, Aug 24 : After filing a lawsuit against former ‘SNL’ star Horatio Sanz for sexual assault, a woman requested the court’s permission to include Jimmy Fallon, Lorne Michaels as well as Tracy Morgan as defendants, asserting that they were the ones who facilitated Sanz his misconduct, as reported by “Variety”.The woman, who has been identified by her initials Jane Doe, alleges that Sanz “groomed” her while she was a fan in her teens of the series.
She also claims that Sanz kissed her, groped her and even tried to digitally infiltrate her at a nightclub in May 2002 at the age of 17 she was just 17.
According to the ‘Variety’ she brought suit in August 2021 in accordance with the state law that created an additional two-year “lookback window” that allows the victims of children sex abuse to bring lawsuits that otherwise would be barred under the statute of limitations.
Recently, New York City amended its own law to establish an opportunity to look back two years which allows the accusers to sue anyone who facilitated the behavior.
In the complaint, it is stated that the accused and her teen friends often attended ‘SNL’ after-party parties in 2000 and 2002.
The suit claims that Fallon and Sanz were known to be drinking with the girl at these gatherings as well as that Fallon once asked the girl about her age and she said she was just a junior in high school. She also had a conversation with Michaels at one of the parties, and he offered her advice on how to pursue writing a career as per the complaint.
“Variety” further states that Morgan hired the space for an after-party in May 2002 during which Sanz was allegedly seen groping her at her will.
Lawyer for Sanz, Andrew Brettler, has denied the claim, stating that the woman was seeking a $7.5 million payment prior to filing the suit last year.
The initial lawsuit was brought by lawyer Jeffrey P.Fitz, in which he named Sanz as well as NBCUniversal as defendants.Fitz also claimed that 18 NBCU employees were aware or ought to have been aware of Sanz sexual misconduct and grooming which included Fallon, Morgan and Michaels and a host of other ‘SNL cast members.
NBCUniversal made a motion to dismiss the suit in April, arguing that the company was not accountable for Sanz his conduct during off-hours.
