San Francisco, Aug 24 : Tech giant Meta has announced that it will allow its Quest VR users sign in using a account that is a brand new Meta account.The company has stated that the update will be made available to all users on a regular basis and users who don’t have the option of creating Meta accounts and a Meta account and a Meta Horizon profile immediately will soon receive the update.
“Our newly designed Meta account structure offers you more control and flexibility and lets you decide what you show and don’t appear – and whether Facebook or Instagram are an element of your experience in VR and other platforms that you can make use of your Meta Horizon profile,” the company said in an article on its blog.
“We would like to make the account creation process as simple as we can and so let’s go over the steps to start,” it added.
If you’re not familiar with Meta VR, you are able to set up an account on Meta account by using an email address, Facebook account, or Instagram account.
The first time you put on your headset you’ll receive a number that can be used to connect the headset with the Oculus mobile app.You can then continue with Facebook or Instagram or use your email address to create an account on Meta.Meta account.
If you make use of an account on Facebook or Instagram account to create your Meta account and then, both that social media account as well as your Meta account will be added to the Accounts Center, which lets you access connected experiences such as getting Instagram users to explore with in VR, and also using Messenger in VR.
If you sign up for your Meta account by using an email address you’ll be required to enter your birthday and name.

The company also stated that if you’ve been accessing your VR device with your Oculus account, you may continue to do this until January 1st, 2023 at which point, you’ll have to create Meta accounts and a Meta account and a Meta Horizon profile to be able to access your Meta VR device.
